Check for Null value in T-SQL

When checking for a NULL value in T-SQL you must use the “IS NULL” predicate. Example:

DECLARE @id int = null
DECLARE @something nvarchar(50)

SELECT @id = id
FROM tbl
WHERE something = @something

IF(@id) IS NULL
  BEGIN
     'do something
  END
ELSE
  BEGIN
     'do something else
  END
